Palace on Wheels Train Tour

Palace on Wheels is a luxury tourist train, launched by Indian Railways in association with Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation to promote tourism in Rajasthan.

The oldest in terms of luxury train in India, Palace on Wheels was refurbished and relaunched in year 2009 with new Itinerary and cuisine.

Palace on Wheels gives its guest royal feeling covering most prominent "Golden Triangle Tour"


The Train can accommodate 82 passengers, With 39 Deluxe Cabins & 2 Super Deluxe Cabins, guest have option to book it on Single or Double Occupancy.

Satellite phone, Intercom, attached toilets, running hot and cold water, wall to wall carpeting are some of the amenities offered.


On Board "Palace on Wheels" has two restaurants "The Maharaja" and "The Maharani" with traditional Rajasthani ambience serving Indian and International Cuisine - with emphasis on Rajasthani Cuisine.

Day 1: Delhi

Guests arrives at Safdarjung Railway station, New Delhi where they will receive warm, traditional welcome & escorted to their cabins onboard "Palace on Wheels" for a week-long luxury cruise through fascinating Rajasthan.

Day 2: Jaipur

The first stop of Palace on Wheels is Jaipur. Jaipur is one of the colorful city in the world. Jaipur is the gateway to the desert state of Rajasthan. Founded by Rajput ruler Maharaja Jai Singh II, in early 18th century, the city possess its grand Rajasthani flamboyance and traditional roots while embracing modernity. On Board Breakfast & go for excursion of the 'Pink City', in Air-Conditioned Coaches - Visit St. Albert Museum, Pink City Palace & UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jantar Mantar. Afternoon excursion to Amber Palace & enjoy ride up to the fort on decorated Elephants. Enjoy Lunch in boutique restaurant in fort premises. Later Time free for Shopping. Evening the Luxury coaches will take you back to Palace on Wheels around 6.30 pm. Dinner on Board.

Day 3: Sawai Madhopur and Chittorgarh

Early Morning proceed to Ranthambore Tiger Reserve for Jungle Safari. Ranthambore is one of the finest Tiger Reserve of India and considered the best Place to spot a tiger in his own natural habitat. The Park is also popular with the wildlife Photographers. Return back by 9:00 a.m. & Depart for Chittorgarh. Breakfast & Lunch onboard.

Late afternoon train reaches Chittorgarh, where one gets an opportunity to watch the colorful countryside passing by in the daylight. Enjoy Sound and Light show in fort complex & later return for Dinner onboard.

Day 4: Udaipur

Arrive in Udaipur, the Lake City by 8:00 AM. Udaipur, was founded by Maharana Udai Singh of Mewar, after the Sisodia dynasty was driven away by the Mughals, in 1559A.D. Perhaps the two most beautiful sites of Udaipur are the dream-like marble Palaces-the Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) and the Jag Mandir, which appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichhola. After lunch a visit to City Palace is exhilarating.

In the evening see beautiful garden Sahelion ki Bari, which Maharaja Sangram Singh constructed this garden complex with fountains and lakes for his beautiful daughter. Later proceed to Jaisalmer on board Palace on Wheels.

Day 5: Jaisalmer

In the heart of the Thar Desert lies Jaisalmer, founded by Rawal Jaisal, in 1156A.D. Discover the painstakingly latticed havelis or mansions with their grand facades. The Nathmalji-ki-haveli, Patwon-ki-haveli and Salim Singh-ki-haveli are fine examples of the stone art.

After lunch on board, go for an exciting camel ride on the sand dunes of Sam, before sipping a refreshing cup of tea. Enjoy dinner and the cultural programs at a hotel in Jaisalmer. The train leaves for Jodhpur at night.

Day 6: Jodhpur

Next morning the Palace on wheels is in Jodhpur - featuring many palaces, forts and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar Desert. The second largest city of Rajasthan, founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 A.D. is known for its rock-solid Mehrangarh Fort. The grand palaces within - Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana are amazing examples of architectural excellence. Near the fort complex lies Jaswant Thada, and a group of royal cenotaphs made of white marble.

After lunch at a Hanwant Mahal Boutique Restaurant, return to the Palace on Wheels.

While in Jodhpur shop for the exquisite handcrafted articles including the famous breeches, embroidered shoes, metal curios, silverware, paintings and tie and dye fabrics.

Day 7: Bharatpur to Agra

Early next morning, the Palace arrives in Bharatpur, the capital of Maharaja Suraj Mal. After breakfast onboard, visit world famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park, the nesting place of 375 species of both local & migratory birds. Depart Bharatpur & arrive Agra in Afternoon. After lunch move on from the Red Fort and arrive at the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. A pristine monument of undying love. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Dinner on board Palace on Wheels.

Day 8: Delhi

Morning arrive at Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi at 6.00 hrs the next morning and let the pleasant memories of the past week linger on your mind for a long, long time.
